Taxi Driver Online

Remember the case of the central driver brought before the council as not being a fit and proper person because of a run in with a pratt doorman on the new fantoosh Quartermile estate in central Edinburgh?

Well it appears he has struck again.

Another complaint, another Central driver, another call to the council to explain himself.

It seems that this individual believes his job is to play at being a cop or a traffic warden. And he can't bear to see a taxi waiting for a customer to alight from his building.

So he goes off on one and clipes to the cops, the council, whoever will listen.

Of course, the cops and the council just love people like this pratt. because it allows them another chance to lord it over a cabbie. Another chance to stiff a cabbie, humiliate him and cost him the considerable sum of cash for legal representation to ensure that these councillors don't exercise their discretion in such a way as to take away his job. As they have done repeatedly in the past.

Now, this is a minor spat. It happened because this guy is clearly mentally deranged. No sane person, other than a school sneak, would go to the bother he does.

Two things should happen here.

First, Central should be contacting the developers, the managers of the building, and requesting that they rein this guy in.

Second, its time the council wised up to the fact that these trivial complaints should be dealt with outwith their kangaroo court system. All they are doing is wasting everyone's time and feeding the bulging pockets of lawyers.

Isn't it time the council started working with the trade rather than dictating to it?

I did state ediburgh council has a reasonable policy in terms of taxi regulation......it surveys demand and issues licenses accordingly.

I didnt say, Gary Thompson gets plates free of charge then sells them.
