Don't know that one, but looking at the lyrics I don't think you're being very nice.

I prefer 'Walls come tumbling down', which reads like the kind of thing that Skull could have penned:

You don't have to take this crap
You don't have to sit back and relax
You can actually try changing it

I know we've always been taught to rely
Upon those in authority
But you never know until you try
How things just might be
If we came together so strongly

Are you gonna try to make this work
Or spend your days down in the dirt
You see things can change
Yes, an' walls can come tumbling down!

Governments crack and systems fall
'Cause unity is powerful
Lights go out, walls come tumbling down!

The wind blows whispers down the street,
Having free reign with the town so bleak -
Like everything else it's - all gone away.
The Town Hall clock gives forth its chime,
For no-one there to ask the time -
Like everything else they've - all gone away.

The Grocer's shop hangs up its sign
The sign say's closed it's a sign of the times -
Like everything else they've - all gone away.

But somewhere the party never ends
And greedy hands rub together again -
Shipping out the profits that they've stolen

An eerie wail comes from the pit,
The ghosts of the men take the morning shift -
Just like clockwork - rusting away.

Come take a walk upon these hills
And see how monetarism kills -
Whole communities -
Even families -
There's nothing left so - They've all gone away

The title of this was 'all gone away'........or lets deregulate so we can all drive taxis and party

The only problems are, we want more regulation and fewer restrictions.

So more taxis mean everyone's shutting up shop

And the song was about monetarism - "and see how monetarism kills" - not deregulation.

And, as Skull says, the taxi gig is not about deregulation.

Our Favourite Shop, actually.

I've also got the Singular Adventures of the Style Council, which was the early version of the greatest hits

Thats a good mentality, completely out of touch with other places and one concentrating on larger cities.

No, the point is you want to get plates for free and sell them for profit.

Of course if you didnt want to do this, and merely aquired plates for nothing, "just to show em'' you'd give them freely to the proletariat driver who is being exploited by the closed market.

Which you do, providing they give you the cash first.

You're a fecking fraud....full stop.

Your point about leaving school made a lot more sense.

Yeah, I think 20 odd years later that was a bad decision, because if i'd done what my dad said, I probably wouldnt be on a cab driver forum at midnight!

[quote="Skull"]It all comes down to proper quality controls and the enforcement of regulation. There is absolutely no reason why a jokey, paying a rental, should be denied unfettered access to the tools of his trade.

Although there is, the little matter of taking control of your own trade?
quote]

No-one is being denied "unfettered access to the tools of his trade".
But as with most things in life, there is a cost involved.
Never the less, buying a licence pays for itself.
If you want a licence and cannot get credit for the purchase then that is likely to be due to your previous financial conduct, and no-one elses fault.

I paid for my licence, used it to earn my income, I have now sold it on.

I was not denied that licence, neither has the person taking it over been denied that licence.

Gary, is it not true that it is only your previous credit history that is denying you that licence that you want so much?.

As for "taking control of your own trade" , are you proposing self regulation?. That did the banks a lot of good.

Gary , you are just a silly wee man standing on the sidelines watching the big boys play. Get a life.
