The police should have let Gazza thro' to talk to Raoul!!

That would have 'killed two birds with one stone' or sawn off shot-gun!!

P*ssed up t*sser!!

That would be enough to make any man want to shoot himself.
I can't get my head around one bit though. This chap had shot 3 people, kolling one of them and he is holding a gun to his own head. Well I am OK so far. It would seem to me that in an attempt to stop him killing himself and/or another person, the police used a tazer on him. Well I am OK with that as well. Now the chap still manages to shoot himself and eventually he dies. Again I'm OK so far. Now why the f**k do the family want another post mortem? What do they expect it to show? Are they sugesting that maybe it was the use of the tazer that made the chap shoot himself and that he was, perhaps, about to give himself up?

1. Northumbria Police used taser guns either by pointing or discharging them more than any other police force in the country last year.
2. It is reported that two taser guns were discharged into Raoul Moat's body & at 50,000 volts each that makes a total of 100,000 volts.
3. The police knew that Moat was holding a shot-gun to his head, with his finger / thumb on the trigger.
4. The effect of using a taser gun on a person is that the target's body goes into involuntary rapid spasms; the police knew that too.
5. Given the above facts, any fool would know that Moat's body would go into involuntary spasms & with his finger / thumb on the shot-gun trigger, it was a stone-blind certainty that he would fire the shot-gun involuntarily into himself.
6. The two policemen who fired the taser guns knew what the consequences would be of firing taser guns in such a situation.
7. They will be extremely lucky to escape a charge of manslaughter. They fired a weapon, whilst not being threatened & in imminent danger themselves. Had they been threatened & in imminent danger, Moat's shot-gun would have been pointed at them instead of at himself when his shot-gun was discharged.

Using 2 tasers would not double the voltage. It would still be 50,000 volts.
Do you know for a fact that at the time the taser was used that the gun was being pointed at himself? Or is that speculation on your part?
The 2 officers should be commended for saving the taxpayer a fortune in looking after this chap for the next umpteen years if it is found that the taser was the cause of him shooting himself.

I beg to differ, two different sources.

On the news this evening & NOT denied by the police. If you listen to the 8 second clip immediately before the shot-gun discharge you can hear two crackling sounds before the shot-gun blast. And this is the main reason why his brother wants a second post-mortem, because there is no mention of the taser gun wounds in the first one.

That's as may be, but believe it or not, there is still a duty of care in handling these situations that the police are supposed to be trained for. It's just like you or me watching an elderly infirm person getting out of our vehicles, knowing they might fall or stumble & not giving them assistance & watching them fall head first onto the kerb; you just would not do it!!

And the police certainly would not have fired the taser guns AFTER he had blasted himself; what would be the point of that.

Nice & dark when they fired the tasers so that nobody could see properly what had happened.

And the police statement immediately after the shot-gun was discharged, stating that they had not fired at all.

In a statement, the police said "no shots were fired by police officers" and it "appears the suspect shot himself".

In a surreal development, the former England and Newscastle footballer Paul Gascoigne turned up at the police cordon in an intoxicated state claiming to be a friend of Moat, and offering to give the fugitive assistance.

Well it save us a shed load of money (for those of us that pay tax), 20+ years behind bars at thousands of pound a year against a 12 bore cartridge at about 50p. Result

So they can get some compo money if the police acted outside of their rules.

Which IMO they didn't.

Sorry you are wrong. You could have a hundred tasers at one time and it would still be only 50,000 volts. The voltage in this case would be in parrallel which means that it will always be the same voltage. It would need to be in series to increase the voltage. Take for instance a 12 volt car battery. This is made up of 6 X 2 volt cells joined together in series (one after the other) to make a total of 12 volts. Now join 2 batteries together with jump leads, Red to red and black to black. The voltage will still be 12 volts. Put a link from the red on one battery to the black on the other battery and you then have 24 volts.
Basic physics, simples.
