I would like to replace my high mileage TX2 and cant decide if I should get a low mileage year old TX4 at £25k or lease a new one with the 3 year/100k warranty and a balloon final payment (hope to renew before then though) .

I would like to keep monthly payments under £500 but need to cut down on my maintenance costs hence a 250k 55 plate TX2 has to go.

Not interested in any other makes or models so no smart replies please.

Cheers.

If you want to keep down time and maintenance cost down dont buy a TX4, think instead of the Vito or VW caravel
Have a look through some of the threads on TDO use the search you will find them as to why, even utube has some vids as to why not to buy a TX4
And unless you work in London you no longer need the turning circle

I certainly would not by a VW caravel or what ever its called. I am not interested in a conversion of any kind just a proper purpose built taxi.

Here in Maidstone there are now 10+ TX4;s and I have yet to find any owners who regret buying one. Only a couple of auto gearboxes have failed and those have been replaced under warranty.

I dont know where all these stories of unreliability in the TX4 come from but they dont come from here !

I have decided to go for a brand new TX4 silver spec taxi.

I got £3k off the price plus £7k for my TX2 so its only cost me £25k. I am well pleased to say the least.

They must have big showroom windows down there to see you coming
You should have waited for the outcome of the equality bill, then you could have had a nice new skoda

What is the difference between the 4 models available classic bronze silver and gold except a few more switches and some fake wood trim, apart from now they are all Chinky made

I think I'd have gone for the one in the link I posted, but I'm perhaps a little biased.

Skippy, no offence, but I really do think your retarded.

The equality act will not make any difference to areas that are currently 100% WAV, we've explained this to you, we've shown you the act, and still you dont accept it.

The difference between a Gold and other models is the badge on the back, some people like that badge and all that goes with it. But you wouldnt know, because you, like me, drive a Skoda and come from deregulated areas where it means even less.

I think it will, if they decide there only has to be a % of wavs, those areas with 100% wavs maybe forced to licence saloons as well, to give the ambient disabled a choice of vehicle
We will have wait and see who is right
Front page headlines of 19 canteen taxi talk CC looses another tenner

I think skippy has a problem reading basic English so I will repeat slowly.

Here in Maidstone, we have to use WAV end of story. Only LTI and the Vito taxis are available as the council follows the London system so that means we cant use dodgy Euro cabs, not that anyone here wants too in any case.
Our town is still regulated which means we can still earn a living legally as numbers are controlled.
I did test drive the Vito but no opening rear windows = no chance of me buying one plus I thought the ride was exactly like driving a van - oh it is a van
I am happy with LTI cabs in any case but I dont buy basic anything so I went for a Silver as I want the air conditioning.

This will be my 7th TX since 2000 (yes I own more than 1 plate) and all have been serviced well and as such they tend to last and be reliable but I like to change them at around 200k regardless. Not because I have to, but because I want to.

Now read this carefully and ask for help if you need to before trying to recommend a @@@@@@@ Skoda as a Hackney

The differences between Bronze, Silver and Gold (never seen a classic even for sale but I guess its poverty spec TX) are Silver adds air con, nicer interior and coloured bumpers whilst Gold adds rear air con, DAB radio (which I paid as an upgrade as I listen to Talksport), slightly different lights and again a different trim.
