my new technique is now not to leave for a BHX or EMA till the plane has landed, its working so far, i get the calls about 5 minutes from the barriers, no sitting waiting

Is it working that way mate??? One of our drivers got hammered for £17 the other week in parking charges.

I have found that the airport arrivals pages on Google and teletext are often not even updated until the damn flight has landed. I live about 35 minutes away from EMA and the planes usually fly past our town when on final approach to landing. I think I will get a good telescope and see which planes are coming over before setting off.

You want Plane Finder for the Iphone 4. You click on the plane and it tells you the flight number, carrier and where it's landing and at what time.

All of these flight tracking services are dependent on the airline updating the information. I find that more and more the "budget" airlines are not updating. Particulaly on the shorter flights. Also on some of the flights I meet from BHX I have to leave home at about the same time as the plane takes off. If I wait for the airline to update the information about take off and the flight subsequently arrives early, then I will be late.

have you tracked a flight onscreen with flightstats?

my mate came back from faro to BHX, 20 minutes early (nice), but then and had to fly over walsall to wait for his slot, if id looked out the window id have seen him!

Careful with flightstats.com not all flights are accurately listed we have had flights listed on there as running 20 mins late which in fact landed 15 mins early and the passengers were then wandering around the drop off zone whilst the driver was in the terminal looking for them !

and some charter flights come up as not existing especially carribean flights and some airlines such as Monarch and thomas cook

It is one of the many reason i dont work fridays and saturday night any more,

I dont know what it is like in other towns, but the strangest thing i couldnt stand was when you finally do find a policman and stop your cab to ask for assistance, they just open the door and let him out to go and mess another drivers night up. Total waste of time
