Well the chairperson's e-mail address is on here. if people wish to e-mail the lady in a calm and reasonable way, explaining to her that to take a drivers living away for a month over what is just a parking offence is completely unreasonable, and also explain to her that the section was not meant for minor offences.. asking her would she expect her licensing team to be placed on suspension for the same reasons... also querying the legality of using CCTV to gain evidence....
stating your name and the district you work it... pointing out that the eyes of the whole country of watching the outcome.... now is your chance

So what's the point of that when those directly concerned who have been suspended for a month could'n't give a toss?

Help those that help themselves I say!

Sometimes you have to help folks who don't wish to help themselves.

And as long as it doesn't involved me spending my hard earned cash, then I'm up for doing a fair bit.

I know the the GMB has written to the Council Leader and the Chair of Licensing asking if this is something a Labour Group should be doing to working taxi drivers.

Maybe when they receive a reply it can be posted up on TDO.

Out of the group that have been suspended Brummie there's about 5 who give a toss.

If they had any brains they should all hand in a letter of appeal and keep on working

The bit that they have been suspended under does not have the same appeal procedure. They are being deemed to be putting the public at risk and therfore it is an immediate suspension without appeal. That is what all the fuss is about.

They can appeal, it's just that they will not automatically get their licenses back pending it.

However in this case I can guarantee they will if they get around to it and present a case to a bench of JPs. Or get a solicitor to.

In fact if they get their timings right they duty solicitor might do it for them.

I have to agree with Skippy. I would hand my letter of appeal in and carry on working. The council are out of order from issuing the wrong notice and trying to deny a working man a right of appeal given to him by Parliment. It is important to everybody on here (no matter how dozy the lads directly involved are ) L.A. staff read this forum, we dont want taking the [edited by admin] to be catching around other authorities.

This whole situation defies belief...all round. From the draconian attitude of the council to the seeming apathy of the affected drivers.

A Labour councillor... that forms her opinion by the information she receives from her licensing officer.... obviously this time it is wrong.... if the local trade tells her it is wrong she might not believe them.... she might believe You and other people from across the country..... what would it cost you.. how much is an e-mail..... I would think it is a great deal less..... than when Birmingham was Derestricted and I drove to Birmingham with other Sefton cab drivers paying our own costs to support the Birmingham cab trade.... comrade?

I have it on very good authority that had these drivers been members of the GMB, when all this came about, they would be working tonight, tomorrow night and every other night until they won in court.

Sussex, it would seem people do not know how to apply pressure.... the more people that complain... the more they help....

If they had been members of the NTA they would have been working. You've got to be in it to win it.

That is the reality of today.

If folks don't want to put in, then they will never be able to take out.

Where does it say, if you become a member of the NTA, you will receive legal representation?

Well here's your chance to win a few more members. Get down to Ashfield and sign them up. Surely, it can only be good for the NTA. Let's see what you can do?
