Letter in tonight's Dundee telegraph

I have been a taxi operator for five years and everyone knows how difficult it is.
I argue with anyone who says it's an easy way to make money.

Things got so bad for me that I got my cab repossessed last week, leaving me in turmoil. — Taxi Driver

If the cab is on finance, and they have paid half, they can hand them back without penalty

Shows what you know about the taxi trade Nigel. We're not talking de-regulation we're talking de-restriction. We're talking much higher standards to keep erseholes out of our trade.

The problem here is, and this proves it, that lowering standards by allowing private hire to take our work is losing us work.

The competition is discounting and our trade gurus want to hike prices.

It's evident that you're just one of Mr T's bumboys, trotting out his shecht. It's imbeciles like you who are killing our trade.

As for the repossession I suspect that, as usual, those applying the rules don't fully understand them.

Wanna bet this has happened here?

Financial bodies, like councils, see what they want to achieve and assume the rules allow it. They're usually wrong.
