Around 50% of this years 120 new students at Harriot what uni have pulled out, then 20% of the remainder have moved into the town, leaving 30% in the halls 20% of them are foreigners and dont go out as they cannot afford to do so.
Then the locals in Galashiels are even stopping from going out.
The taxi rank holds 8 cabs, with the remainder around 40 plus, having to find other places to wait to get on, like 4 cabs only outside the cinema, the police have said they will book anyone using the bay at the bottom of Channel St on the right, the rest can queue in Tossers car park until they decide to move us out, then another 4 from another zone comes down for the last hour, waisting £60 of fuel over 3 nights, just to sit and go home without getting a fare

Doomed mate, maybe they will have to offer 50% off.

We have a 'Bankruptcy Row' in Brum, but your Tossers Car Park has to beat that!!

You think it's bad now?

Just wait until you have to buy a WAV & pay 'The Monkey' on that for five years!!

I would buy a decent old one, as there are no age limits on WAVs here only saloons and MPVs
I could be tempted for GBCs but his price is a bit over the 5 bob I would pay for it

Don't dismiss a good, used, ex-London cab.

I bought a 4 year-old one in 2000; it was the best second-hand taxi I have ever bought.

I also believe that ex-Edinburgh used cabs run ex-London cabs very close on quality.

But you have to pay. I did & although I thought it was a heavy price at the time, it was well, well worth it in the years I had it.

Too late.

It's off to a Yellow Badge driver (as the TX1 did) in a couple of weeks.

You'll regret my offer in a couple of years when you get a plate refusal skippy, and you're queueing for a £20k + Wav along with the other few thousand 'It'll never happen' crew.

I may be in a position to let my new TX4 / Merc go by then though.

She is alleged to have said, What, what?

And it's Heriot-Watt University.

Heriot-Watt University is a university based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The name commemorates George Heriot, the 16th century financier to King James, and James Watt, the great 18th century inventor and engineer.

That reminds me of that song from 1966; "What's it all about Heriot?"
