Priorities eh? :D

I should also point out to anyone following this thread, I've also had the rockers (all) done this month for £620 as it's done over the magic 100'000 now, and the swing arm thing that holds the spring belt tensioner went, that was a couple of hundred for the part alone.

I'll keep it updated as 2010 goes along.

Some of the rockers have gone already, even though they were 'genuine LTI parts'

One of the bolt holes that holds the rocker(s) in place has been threaded.

The garage are blaming the quality of the LTI / Ford parts, I suspect they've been ham fisted and over tightened that particular bolt.

I ain't paying out for a new head.

I now have a rentalk whilst they sort out the engine and try to retap the hole.

FFS.

Yes I saw that one on E-Bay the other day, very nice, I'll get Skippy to do the right hand drive conversion for me.

I got my own cab back today running as sweet as a nut, or as sweet as a TX2 can.

Despite the few things that have gone wrong, and the unusual noises that the Duratorq engine seems to make, it's not been a bad cab.

I'm still thinking about the Mercedes but was waiting to see if the Cab Direct M8 version would be licensed. I spoke with Allied in Glasgow the other day, and they haven't heard anything from the PCO, but they seem hopeful the men in wigs won't have to be called in . . . yet.

He did shock me a bit when he told me the M8 was retailing at £33K though.

It makes me wonder if I were to buy one, I would be as well paying the extra couple of grand for the turning circle, or just buy the manual one from the Birmingham Taxi Warehouse.

I thought the one without the turning circle was around £24k to £26k depending on speck
Why not call in to the PCO and get some answers as to why they are not complying with the court ruling

The PCO approved one at the B.T W was around the £31K (inc VAT) mark, but it's a manual, and unless I became a face at the Aiport, I'd go mad driving a manual in London. I tried that before with a rental cab. It makes for a long day in the saddle.

The Liverpool ruling as I understand it is being appealed against by lawyers reresenting LTI.

Besides, I don't believe it's a generic ruling which would give Allied immediate access to every licensing area in England and Wales, they would still have to challenge each authority on an individual basis, albeit from a position of power with the above case behind them.

Anyway, back to the thread 'Goodbye TX1, hello TX2'

Just for Skippy.

It's due it's 120K service today.

EGR thingumy needs a clean out, brakes need a bleed, apart from that not a lot since my last update apart from a front wheel bearing for £55.

Still happy.

It's the Gold spec model and comes with an upgraded timing chain, new pulleys and tensioner. It's also covered by a three year warranty.

Gold spec eh?

Does that mean you get a cup holder?

That, and a jacket peg so I can hang my new cab coat on it.

The jacket peg as you call it, is in fact a curry bag hook for your take-away.

You're not the only one to make that mistake; most cars now have the curry bag hook so the take-away does not spill over the floor.

Perhap's the last entry on this little thread?

Rear wheel bearing seal letting by, so I'm getting the whole bearing done whilst they're doing the seal.

Had a major service the other week, needed pads.
