As for me being a socialist, well that may have been the case in my idealistic youth.

Now I recognise that not only are there many who don't want to take control of their own lives, I wouldn't want to encourage them to do so.

Hierarchical social structures require that the bewildered herd remain bewildered. That way they can be exploited for the common benefit.

It wouldn't do for the masses to realise that their "betters" aren't really better. After all, if they had such wisdom, who would be prepared to sacrifice their lives for the warmonging forys of the master class and come home in a bodybag?

Most words start as slang or unofficial. They eventually fall into mainstream use and find their way into the official dictionaries.
The Oxford English Dictionary contains thousands of new words when a new edition is released.
Perhaps Scumbaggery will make it into the next edition
