The Minister told Naleo's Conference last week that the meter should only go on once the WAV punter was loaded and ready to go, not when you pull up.

I think he is wrong, and the meter should go on just before you get out of the cab to get the ramps ready.

Who's right?

As far as I am aware the meter is supposed to start when the journey begins. If you start the meter before that time then the disabled punter is being charged more than an able bodied punter and as such I believe this is against the DDA.

If you have a supermarket job do you put the meter on before or after you load the shopping?

After, because as far as I am aware the meter is supposed to start when the journey begins.

Here is a link to our council handbook.

http://www.melton.gov.uk/pdf/3%20AFV%20 ... 20FEES.pdf

Section 2.2 paragraph 8 at the top of page 6 shows what our council say.

But then why do we have waiting time on the meter?

And for when you are asked to stop at their mates house whilst they pop in to buy their drugs on the way home.

Waiting time is for the time you are working but not moving.

That includes loading a WAV punter.

But that would mean charging a disabled punter more than an ablebodied punter for the same journey.

I think we all know that we are only legally able to charge when the vehicle sets off! Having said that we feel that we should be paid for our time so some break the rules. The downside being is that through this piece of legislation many drivers will not stop because their families come first and they have to earn, and then the person who needs that vehicle wonders why no one will pick them up  . Unfortunately it is a catch 22 situation...........The authorities do not want to pay, the punter does not want to pay, and the driver does not want to lose out.

Answer to the solution on a stamp please.

Which two jobs are the same?

If you get stuck in traffic with a WAV customers do you charge them the same rate you would do with a non WAV customer not stuck in traffic, for the same route?

If you are at an airport and the plane is delayed do you charge waiting for a non WAV punter, but not a WAV punter?
