Effectively making the cabby a tax collector for BAA?

Indeed.

But at least it will not be coming out of drivers takings.

The council would have to put it on the tariff sheet first.

Do tolls have to be put on the tarriff sheet?

We can charge no more than is on the meter.
We can only add things to the meter if it is on the tariff card.

We have this to sort it all out:

Any legitimate charges incurred during or as a result of the fare paying customer's journey will be carged as extras.

When you have a review get it put on your tariff - jobs a good'un.

Aberdeen council already refused to put airport pick up charges on the tariff card.
Can't see them allowing drop off charges either.
Aberdeen Airport is owned by BAA, so I can see this happening here sometime soon, if they make it stick in Edinburgh.

I went Through the New Drop off Zone for the first time tonight...must say there is loads of space to drop off in...even an overspill drop off area.

What I find odd though is you get 10 minutes of dropping off for a £1....then in the Small print in their brochure it States:

*After the 10-minute period the cost will increase to £5 for 10-20
minutes, and £7 for up to 60 minutes. Every hour after the fi rst
hour will be charged at £9 per hour. These rates have been set to
encourage dropping off. If you require parking, you should use the
short stay car park.

Now....If you can park for as long as that then it cannot be purely a Drop off area, it must double as an expensive place to Abandon/Park cars in...if that happens then it will just get bunged up with the wealthy punters leaving their cars parked when they are in a hurry.

It also looks like they have little or no control on Cars picking people up here either!!

Soooooooo...what is it..a 10 minute Drop off Zone or an Expensive parking Zone which they can't police?

Heres a Link to the Official new Edinburgh Airport brochure for this Dropoff Zone.
