Instead they are now called London Taxi Company. Also they are also getting new Mitsubishi engines.
I think the Bronze, Silver and Gold models are being replace with just 2 - a basic bronze type and a loaded Gold type but I have been led to believe that the price for the top spec is around the same as a current silver.

I have forgotten the names of the 2 new models (maybe the Elegance) but I have just purchased a 10 plate Silver spec for a superb price so I dont really care to be honest

Anyway here is the new website which seems to have replaced the Mann and Overton site.

Thanks for the heads up.

But, the .com address takes you to the international site where we know Geely have been offering the petrol engine, allbeit manual only.

Go to the uk site and no petrol unit is available at the moment.

The diesel engines are bad enough on fuel, without compounding the problem with petrol engines that might just return 18 MPG at a push

I hate to say it (as I've always been a fan of the LTI product) but I really think that what we're seeing now is just about the end for the TX4 and the traditional 'black cab'. It looks like the company's complacency has now caught up with them. The new, revised vehicle will almost certainly be little or no better than the outgoing one and - as far as I can see - does not offer better value. Time is up for the black cab. The Vito is in London.

I cant see it that way myself as with the right owners, the company will still sell well.
If if was me in charge then I would immediately reduce the price to around 25k for the basic and 27k for the flash one, completely address the build quality issues and watch a transformation in sales.
They do not cost anywhere near 27k to make so I would expect a smaller profit per cab but massively increased sales so ultimately profits would increase

The market will always be there so its not hard to see how to transform it.
I would be looking to replace the heavy iron chassis with a aluminium one ala Jaguar which would increase mpg by at least 20%.
I think engine wise they should look at trying to use the BMW 2.5 6 cylinder engine. It does more than 50mpg in a 5 series saloon and its absolutely bomb proof.
Thats my opinion anyway.

I agree with your points devilhunter. As I said, I'm a fan of the LTI taxi, I would love to see the company turn things around. They definitely need to get the MPG figure up and rectify the build quality issues ASAP. I would love to see the latest sales figures for new cabs into London since the Vito was passed.

Where did you get your info that the new TX4 will have a Mitsubishi engine?
