Hello

My name is Richard West from Swanland Insurance & Mortgages and I specialise in Income Protection for Self Employed Taxi Drivers.

I wanted to enquire, what would you do or how would you pay your bills if you were unable to work because of an accident or were too ill to work?

There is a new product which has recently launched called “Bills & Things”

It is a policy that pays upto £1000 per Month for upto 2 years

No proof of earnings required
Can cost from as little as £1 per day*

• *price quoted based on a male aged 40. He wanted the maximum of £1000 per Month to pay his bills upto the maximum period of 2 years
• This would cost £26.99 a Month, 89p a Day

If you would like to know more, please call me on 01482 300472 to discuss further

Richard can you tell us what the exclusions/exemptions there are?

Is this a sickness policy, or will you be able to claim for whatever reason you don't work?

It might be worth putting the policy up on here?

Hi there,

Many thanks for your reply, sorry I don't know your name ( Sussex? !! )

I do appreciate your comments and I'll do my best to answer your questions

The policy pays upto a maximum of £1000 per Month for upto a maximum of upto 2 years
It will cover you if you have an accident or a long term sickness which means you are unable to work.

You could choose £700 a month if you wanted, we have flexible cover to keep the cost down

For example, you break your leg and unable to work for 5 Months, after 4 weeks, you will receive £1000 a month until you return back to work

I stress - NO PROOF OF INCOME REQUIRED

EXCLUSIONS
This is NOT a redundancy cover policy
It would not pay out if you had an exisiting illness which you didn't declare at the time of taking out policy
It won't pay out if you have a cold or "Man Flu" !!
It is best to be honest at the outset

In terms of putting the whole policy on here, it would be so long, I am concerned you would get bored and give up !!

I am trying to generate interest in a soft approach in the hope you may e-mail or call me to discuss

I don't want this to sound corny but all I want to do is help people, especially Taxi Drivers - The job you do is considered high risk and is hard to get cover

Just think, on my original price quoted, 89p a day. What does this buy you?
A can of drink and a chocolate bar if you're lucky?

Thank you for your time :)

I hope this helps - feel free to contact me via this website or on 01482 300472 or richard.west@swanlandim.co.uk if you have any more questions

Thats Fine if your Ill for more than four Weeks...the only trouble is that the vast majority of ailments leading to loss of eanable income last less than four weeks....its the short term that hurts most...anything longer and Id be looking at SSP which one way or another I already pay for.

Hi Bloodnock

I appreciate your feedback too -

I see your point regarding short term sickness, the cover I am talking about is Long Term sick or an Accident which may result longer than 4 weeks off work
People do think " It will never happen to me" !! A reverse of the lottery !!! ha ha

SSP - Only pays out for a max of 28 weeks - I believe that's somewhere around £79.15 a week? £316 a Month - Yes it helps but would it cover your Bills & Things? Hence the name of the policy

Surely £1000 a Month would help more? You could get the SSP for 4 weeks until the policy paid out from week 4?

A different scenario but I was made redundant twice in 6 months and got no help from the government - A family man with 2 children having to survive on £65 a week??? !!! Didn't even cover my food Bloodnock

What I am trying to say is, I can't rely on the state - I have to look after myself and have plans in place

Here are some stats for you, might be useful, these are legit

to get 3 numbers in lottery ( £10 ) 1 in 58

To Die before age 60 - 1 in 13
To become critically ill before 60 ( Cancer etc ) - 1 in 8
To become sick or accident - 1 in 5

WOW !! To win £10 look at the odds

These stats are true for UK population - as are lottery stats
It got me thinking !!!

Any thoughts or feedback, most welcome - even if you tell me to do one!!

I am trying to help though

Hi there to all Taxi Drivers - I hope you all had a prosperous Christmas & New Year

I wanted to answer a few more questions to people who have contacted me directly

We can now get cover from day 1 - so if you have man flu - you can claim !!
( The only rule, you do have to prove your earnings and it can be a little more expensive ) this is because it will pay out from day 1

If you can't prove your earnings, then Bills & Things is the one for you

Yes I can get you cover if you smoke !!

If anyone has any questions, please contact me, I am here to help

theres no SSP for the self-employed, didnt they teach you that at taxi driver school?

I assume you cover the self-employed Mr RJWest?

Do you want to Private Message me - so thousands of people don't see this message? !

As long as we are honest and upfront - the Insurance Company may exclude this condition and cover you for everything else but won't know till I know your condition and we try

Regards

Richard
