Why no arrest warrant? Because none is needed.

He has been found guilty, and he has been told he will be sentenced no matter what next month.

he was told to attend, if it was you or me and failed to attend we would be found in contempt of court

He would have been told at his last hearing that if he didn't turn up the hearing would go ahead without him.

I also suspect a charge will be put to him when he next turns up, of not turning up.

I would think you are probably correct. The courts don't like to be messed around so he will get something extra for failing to attend.
