How do you workout personal mileage in your cab for Tax purposes?
I am concerned about possible tax problems in the future, (were all in this together) So how do you record personal mileage in your cab in your accounts? Will the tax man be looking at mileage done to prove that you have had more income than your saying? What about traveling too and from your usual rank at the start and end of your day, what about personal shopping trips and personal family visits, if you say record 50k miles a year what can the tax man expect to count as working miles? are there any kind of Taxman rules on this, has there been a precedence set anywhere?
I don't have any problems, and hope not to get any, but its nice to have it clear in my head if ever asked by HMRC.
when they get you in they go through everything
eg, you went on holiday to Egypt didnt you, on the so and so date, er yes, what was that then, a Nile cruise, £3000, er no , got it off teli tex bundle for 400 quid,
I know you have been to Egypt cos we have your details on our computor, well my wife paid for it
I see you dont work Sundays, cos there is no fuel receipts for that day, your vehicle does 39 miles to the gallon urban from the manufactures site, ah but thats on a test machine from new, i get about average round town 24 mph
I am at looking at your documents and mileage, and I consider you owe us over 6 years 38 grand, go away and think about it, eventually they get it down to something like 6 grand over 6 years
mileage to work, ie to the taxi rank is classed as business miles, you are at work
