I'd only charge one way cos that's how we do it here. I get 100 miles for a £10 so that would be £25 fuel. I'd be quite happy with the £140 he offered :D

The question at the top is "How low would you go?"

The punch line that springs to mind is "I can just about manage a Chihuahua".

But I expect you all know the joke....

The sad thing is that I bet he found some dickhead to do it for £140.

After 6 years as a courier running 3 XLWB vans and knowing what the going rate is for that work (and that payment can be 60 days from invoiced) im quite happy to take £125 for 125 miles one way

consider this comment when i stated that id want £1.10 per loaded mile for a 3.5t van job....

Quote:
I would not Pay that rate to a subbie

A sprinter fully laden and driven hard would do 28mpg, my mondeo does 50mpg, courier insurance is about the same as taxi/PH, the work is cash (well this job would be) while nearly all van work is account, and your always hoping whoever owes you doesnt go tits up before your cheque finally gets posted

had one phone me up the other week wanted as 6 seater at 01.30 in the morning saturday/sunday from uffington to yaxley about 20 miles I quoted £55 after all there were 5 passengers and it was a late night run with a round trip for the driver of around 40 miles he had had 2 quotes from Ph firms in peterborough 1 for £18 1 for £19 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He then spent 2 or 3 more minutes on the phone arguing with me over the price how could I be so much more

I'm sure he found out on the night after all with the Peterborough PH boys what you are quoted is NOT what you pay.
