If taxis had grown according to market conditions there would have been less opportunity for PH, and we would be controlling the market through our tariff, not theirs.

There is no evidence to show that ph would not have grown if the area was de-restricted. It continues to grow here and we are de-restricted. It can't even been blamed on the fact that taxis here have to do a knowledge or other type of test, we all do the same and ph continues to grow. The only difference here now than before de-restriction is that we have taxis working on ph systems cos there isn't enough work on the road. Is that the kind of thing you want for Edinburgh, instead of paying rent for a vehicle that is maintained by somebody else you want to have HP costs, maintenance costs, a whole lot more competition, more regulation and the cost of rental for a radio from PH company :? I ask this because I can't see what else you'll gain that you don't already have

no such thing as controlled growth dougie....

its called restriction, their is no growth and hasn't been for years, apart from the challenges from the carpetbaggers :D in fact if it wasn't for the plate value and the income from drivers, their would in fact be contraction.

as for tightening the grip on me ........   you clearly don't have what it takes.
you couldn't even lead a few dumb taxi drivers to sign up to a quorum

but perhaps you could show me,how you managed to lobby your mp and what precisely he is going to do about the local government.

of course i know you cant show anything dougie
your just one of those guys how shouts his mouth off, because he's unhappy about somit or other.

tell you what just drop an innuendo and a
so that all us simpletons think you know something.

Havent got the ego to prove anything, it's the taking part that counts

It's about choice. And the rightt to make it.

Your situaion is down to YOU. You've made the bed your lying in.

Now, if you were truly proactive and adopted modern commercial techniques yo could shape a better future for yourself.

As for having to join a PH network, the problem is that customers have been persuaed to fone for a hire. Technology is encouraging this, and will do even more in the future.

In a city conurbation however there is still scope for customers to step out of their brownstone and hail a cab on the street. Or at one of a number of key ranking points. It's not so imperative to be on a circuit.

sounds like a spiral

the more phone work you take for a restricted number of taxi's,the less there are on the street, the more phone calls you get.even less on the street.

in steps the unrestricted ph market.

and take all the street work.

sounds like edinburger.

we need more taxi's

Controlled growth sounds a bit like Lebensraum.
Sounds reasonable until you find out what it really means.
