Right - Might float like a ton of bricks here, BUT.

I have recently got myself a private hire licence ( west lothian). I took it as an "insurance policy" as i got told there was a good chance i was going to be paid off.

anyway, i'm faily confident i can get a 50/50 drive - and am having some major hassles at work.....

I've never been self employed before, so it'd be a leap of faith to become a PH driver.

My question is : ( and i understand its very vague)

roughly how much would a private hire driver earn ( 50/50, owner pays the fuel) in a given week, dayshift or nightshift, in west lothisn, for a given X amount of time.

im not looking for exact figure, but maybe some indication of what CAN be earned....I.E mr a worked 60 hrs last week, and made £300 etc....

theres no such thing as an average figure

do it the other way round

what do you NEED?

got kids? mortgage? wife working? bills? debts?

are you "skilled" (craft, etc)

have you savings to fall back on?

i know two PH drivers in brum on circuits with (actual) taxable profits of £7000........both are now on tax credits, and thats urban working, are you rural or urban?

be carefull

Forget it and just stay in your job at least you got a job..!!!!

Dayshift forget it...!!!

What radio circuit will you be on.?

All the fours ? Newtown ?

Both systems are nigh on into triple figures of amount of cars they have.!!

Newtown and Ace where taken over by the ECPH mob.. and there seems to be a lot of sqeeky bums there at the moment cause everybody is unsure wot they gonna do in terms of dropping fares.

All the fours are defo the busy system at the moment . if i where you driving PH i would get my self over to the guy who owns it and get a drive with him.. Guarnteed good school run so the 300 quid a week could well be made.

All the fours - Didn't Ian Elder run them at one point ??

i'm desperatly trying to cling onto my job at the moment, but its on a daily basis if that makes sense.

if i end up out of a job in the morning - driving a PH would be my only choice short term.
