Then just over a year later I was down to 93p again. Folks were saying at £1.33 that it'll never ever go back down again, but it did.

Just imagine what an electric / hydrogen revolution would do to the oil price?

I again go back to mobile phones and the year of 1987. A guy walked into a bar I used to work part time in. He had a massive battery he had to carry in a case, and a full sized handset. We were all amazed.

I never thought for a minute I would ever own one. But I do.

GBC, you can get much smaller ones now and the battery is integral. They do just as good a job.

You should get a modern one as soon as you can - you could put your back out carrying that battery.

I reckon that the oil companies and piston engine manufacterers (i.e. the car factories) conspire against any move away from petrol/diesel....

how would HMG tax a water based power plant/additive, etc?

I think they own a lot of the patents for alternative power.


They wouldn't. Instead the tax would be on the engines themselves, so a new engine would be £30,000 but from then on it would be free to run. Or they'd just increase all the other taxes to make up the shortfall.

possibly but can they do it on more than motorways and dual carriageways? i could (with effort) avoid these all day/every day

unless they could come up with satellite tracking, which i dont think they fancy, big brother and all that

maybe a bill annually based on your vehicles mileage between MOTs.....
