The hotel owners didnt discriminate against gays, they clearly state they only accept married couples (1 man, 1 woman) for bookings in a double room, they could have been 2 straight guys sharing costs....

It would appear the judge thought different.

i hope the defence lawyer checked the judges "leanings", if he was shirt-tail lifter he could have been bent, er, biased

Oh yes they did.
They just discriminate against everyone who isn't monogamously heterosexual and faithfully married to each other as well.
The law is clear. They can't use religion to justify their prejudice.

Now I have no doubt the plaintiffs in this action deliberately provoked the incident but by placing such a statement on their website, they were asking for someone to take them on.

It would have been better for the hoteliers if they had simply said there were no double rooms available or contrived some other reason to refuse.....

An appeal will be expensive and pointless.

The Judge was wrong...a Civil partnership is not the same as a marriage in the eye of the law..

Its not much more than a contract, designed to give legal right to share posessions rather than a wedding vow..

Anyways...if the hoteliers didnt want this pair or any pair, be it Man/Man, Man/Woman, Woman/Woman or Baboon/Gibbon to stay then its should be upto them, its their establishment...Feckin hell...is their no right to free expression left in this country.

The bullying Government Scares me more by its incessant erosion of freedom of Individual thought and your right to say "NO" ...Its a Big Brother state gone Bad, interfering just to pander to the minority whilst walking all over the opinions of the majority.

99.9999% percent of the time things go along just smoothly regardless of peoples views of other peoples differances in lifestyle or religion. This high Handed attitude to punish basically decent people to appease a few Mischeif makers is wrong. Instead of making the nation more tolerant it just builds up further resentment and creates an "Us and Them" atmosphere where the "Us" are to frightened to even mention the "Them" for fear of being pursued by the law (and dont the the "Them" know it)...Isnt it time that if true equality Exists then both sides of the divide should be protected from the other and do as they damn well chose as long as it does not physically injure the other side..People have gone soft, thin skinned and take offence to easy..really hacks me off!!!

Id happily take anybody or anything...but ultimately I'd like the option of saying yes or no to be my choice..

Im not prejudice in anyway....though admittedly ive never carried a Black Irish dog in my car yet..not knowingly at least as dogs dont bark with an irish accent .
