Why?

It's the way the wheelchair has to sit in order for the restraining belts and straps

i have picked up claire a few times (odeon cinema) and her wheelchair is no problem(fiat doblo),the wheelchair is a small one and all i have to do is lower my ramps and claire drives up the ramp herself, the press have surprisingly messed this complaint up,the issue was that wav taxis are not picking up off the steet, many with their lights on are driving past wheelchair users ,the cabbies know who the dodgers are but the view is its another job for me but its no comfort for the wheelchair user who has to wait 3/4 an hour on a sat or even worse make their own way home as claire did

She drives up the ramps herself.

Quality.

And how, in a Fiat Doblo, does she become rear facing to conform with legal requirement?

And who straps her in?

Can't wait to hear this one

We were advised not to allow this as it is unsafe.

Do you have the correct clamps/ harness to secure a powered wheelchair?

These aren't supplied a standard with most WAVs as most LAs up here that require WAVs only require you to be able to take an average size manual wheelchair.

Without them, in this compo culture country we live in nowadays, you really are asking for trouble.

Don't expect the LA to back you in the event of an accident, or your insurance company. Both will cover their own erses and leave yours hanging out.

Hear what you're saying regarding drivers ignoring the disabled, but that just proves that you can lead the horse to water............

Sounds like the right gear.

Just watch out for the pax driving themselves up the ramp.
If they fexx it up, you're still liable.
