The normal on the the nightshift is £45 sun-thurs,£70 on a friday and £75 on a saturday.

So the normal rental if you want 7 days is £370 in my book saf unless like some owners I know who take the saturdays of the driver for themselves to drive or 50/50 with a part-timer doing the shift.

First of all,i don't know anybody who works seven days or indeed wants to work seven days so if there are guys out there that do well £370 sounds about right if the drive comes with city or central.
That works out at around £52.85 per shift,£6.60 per hour if you do an eight hour shift but as i said who, if anybody, works seven days.
Secondly,if you have a driver who works five days as most do and have the Fri/Sat as part of their working week, again as most do, taking your figures that's £280 pw divided by five =£56 per shift,£7 per hour again working eight hours.
Finally,as you say £45 per shift Sun/Thurs that works out at £225 per week £5.62 per hour all of the above and trouble free motoring,no big garage bills no finance plus other overheads.
Fuel, like in any other business using transport has to be paid for no matter if you own or don't own the taxi.
I eagerly await the endless rants about unfettered access to the tools of their trade yada yada yada.

You are deluded do you know that? your greed knows no bounds!!!

First of all tell me why you don't allow your drivers to rent the vehicle for 8 hours instead of 12 then? Afterall thats 4 hours per day vehicle overheads it's sitting idle saving you a 3rd of what your charging them?

Off course you know your greed has no bounds wheather the driver rents for 7 or 5 days is irrelevant a full time driver SHOULD pay the same rate no matter what day off the week he drives.

£75/£70 for a full timer at the weekends is a disgrace and the greedy owners out their wonder why certain drivers are now going about things in a different far more dangerous way than derestriction than you can every imagine,ie driving hours.

Well Oneeye,i don't know about the deluded part and there's certainly no greed on my behalf, you see i sold my taxi and plate back in September 2008.
My driver had a very good deal,he must have had,he drove my taxi for nearly 10 years and yes the weekends where part of his shift.
I'm not saying there's not some greedy owners out there, like everything else in life there's good and there's bad.
All i'm pointing out is that when you hear Gary telling everyone that the £300-£350 for a rental is the norm well,we all know it's not
Again the £70/£75 at the weekends,i am assuming this is with one of the big two companies ie city or central, just ask Jim and Gary, they certainly don't pay that for the weekend shifts.
Are you saying if you had your own taxi you wouldn't do a twelve hour shift Friday/Saturday?
If the dynamic duo had their way you would be doing twelve hour shifts seven days a week, and before we hear, "drivers choices and working certain hours through the busy periods" that argument is dead in the water, we all know everyone would be working the same busy periods which makes them less busy,ie more taxis looking for more work meaning more hours less money,FACT.
