Of course, it's all about the saloon plates in Dundee getting a bit nervous.

You should know the mindset, Gus

I agree that it is all irrelevant if a survey is not carried out but if a survey is done and the survey says 450 surely the percentage of wav will be from that number and not the current 603.
The reason i say this is because the numbers will fall as time goes bye. Remember Dundee plates are none transferable so the numbers would fall eventually.

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your view, the percentage applied will relate to the number of taxis licenced at that time, not to any number which may or may not be achieved at some point in the dim and distant future.

The Equality Act isn't going to wait until it suits the taxi trade.
So let's say.... that the Council had this decision before them tomorrow.... what would be the percentage they would have to consider

Do try to read all, the posts.

3. 269

269 out of 603 is only 44.61%

I can't see the proportion set by the Equality act being that low when it's announced.
If Dundee set a limit, it may not be for very long.

I am reading the posts.... and I am still wandering why percentages are being referred to... as we have none now.....ps... This Act is being revisited.... along numerous levels.... it seems quite a few people think it is ridiculous.....

Is there anyone who didn't, apart from the MPs who voted for it?

Percentages are being referred to because that's what the act says, is it not?

Do you have some sort of evidence for that assertion?
Perhaps you would like to tell us the outcome of this review as well?

Until the act is revised and or repealed by parliament, it is still law, is it not?

BTW your own words, not 3 weeks ago

It should be very interesting to see what percentages they actually come up with..... the first thing we will be asking them.. is what mechanism they have used to arrive at that percentage.... and also will it also mean that if a council is operating a 100 per cent wheelchair accessible fleet.... by their very logic.... will these councils have to allow saloon type vehicles, and if not, why not,........ for by this very advice.. they themselves will be discriminating against the disabled...... interesting days ahead...

And any council that is considering percentages at this time are way ahead of themselves

Anything changed since then?

When is a door not a door.... when its a jar...... the act is there... but this section has not been implemented yet .... and as I said it will be interesting to see what happens...

I think there is no chance that section will be removed. Not with the existing Minister anyway. He has spoken.

If the gov are getting a bit iffy about it they can simply come out with a very low percentage.

However I don't believe they are iffy about it, and hope the consultation will be out soon.

Are we expecting a "Consultation" - I thought it was just "up to the Minister".

I dont know, people seem to kick up a fuss about these things.

But look at the DDA as the most obvious example........for something that never became law.....how many councils adopted WAV policies etc on the pretence it was going to happen?

And who exactly paid for those sh*te, and they are truly sh*te, vehicles, that are of no use for the most part for the major majority of people who get in cabs anywhere.
