A scotish council has recently been told that they have exceded their legal powers to demand a taxi must have more then 2mm for hackney tread depth. They will now only fail vehicles after the standard legal minimum 1.6mm VOSA requirement is breached.

Let's bin councils playing God with taxis and require Vosa to xamine all vehicles.
