I'm sick of not getting a proper quote from dispatch companies (datamaster being the exception).

Has anyone got the mercury system installed ? and a rough idea of cost for a starting fleet of 10 cars ?

Go for datamaster and PDA's. low initial outlay (keep your present radios) and expansion costs (just get a PDA added every time you recruit a driver). We have and I'm happy to recommend it.

We used mercury for 2 years. Support was rubbish. updates a pain in the bum and nothing really changed. Cost was ridiculous. Crashes were frequent and the system could take up to 2 hours to reboot. Features were virtually non existant. fastest finger drivers earned more which isn't fair, even though I was one of them.

So far, Datamaster no crashes. Reboot time after update less than 2 minutes. features are a damn site better and really work. Support - once up and running you don't need any but they are always happy to help even though they may be busy improving their system or setting up new taxi firms.

I've only been in the business for 21 years but I know who I prefer

To answer the original question:-
£6000 for 2 stations plus £285 per PDA
Approx £600 per month support (if any) plus £10 per month per vehicle (I think but not far out)

Datamaster £2500 for 2 stations with £150 per month support plus £1 per vehicle.

Autocab around £60,000 setup with PDA costing £1200 each. Each add-on will cost too.

Do not, do not, and I'll say again do not, get Mercury. We've had it in for 3 years and it's been a sack of shite. Their support is none existent and will cost you £60 per hour if you phone them.

Their system is a rip off of Diplomats Navigator dispatch system but it's not as good as Diplomats Navigator.

I'd stiick with Bills mob at Datamaster.

I can't comment on Mercury, but since installing Datamaster we've gone from 35 cars to 42 in 12 months and job totals are rising. We switched from Autocab, and it's the best move we've ever made.

Datamaster only £2500 for 2 stations ? Nobody else can beat that, ontop of the excellent service

And don't forget that's 2 stations with call recording and text back. Other firms want £2500 just for a text back module!

You're more than welcome to visit us at Sunny Grangemouth. Our system is still being tweaked, but it'll give you an idea of what's involved. I also hear there's a more established system in Stepps, if that's more convenient. Bill should be able to put you in touch.

Cheers for the offer, I've already had a demo version that I used as a basic starter. Very intrested to see a full working system though So I might contact the guy in stepp's to have a look.
