All drivers are doing is protecting the income of owners. It doesn't get any more complicated than that. If not, then why aren't rentals being reduced in-line with the drop in work? Oh and before you say the cost of running a cab isn't going down. It's irrelevant. The fact is, rentals have never reflected earnings or the cost of running a taxi. It's simply about driver availability. Until the plug is pulled no one knows how the cost of running a cab impacts on earnings and driver rentals.

One driver, one cab is a different ball game. :-|

What would be the maximum timescale they have to appeal?

I think it's 28 days, but as Ali said, the deed is done. They will be waiting on an appeal date from the court of session. This doesn't mean it will actually happen as the council can pull out at any time.

I can't seriously believe they expect to win on appeal. Which might mean they are stalling because of some other political imperative.

you got that right
they have no intention of going all the way
macleod is making up a report due in the next month.

Well look at it this way CC. You can only drive one cab at a time. So what we are really talking about is having control over your own employment, driving your own hours and paying your own bills. Some people call it self-employment with unfettered access to the tools of their trade.

I know this wouldn't suit a taxi owner who depends on his driver's income to keep his head above water but that's life.

Sorry to hear, and I'm not just saying that, I don't get satisfaction out of anyone's misfortune, unless of course, they deserve it, and I happen to be their misfortune.

Keep your chin up CC, unfortunately the bad [edited by admin] is as much a part of life as the good stuff.

Read the book seen the film bought the T shirt, :-|
