Interesting that the blog's author is sticking to his guns, so to speak.

Only time will tell if the original post has any merits, but it does just show how weak and pathetic elements of the national taxi trade are if they are sh***ing themselves over a paragraph or two written by someone who no-one knows about, and hence can't check their credentials. :?

Interesting also that certain reps of the Manchester trade are bailing out. Again only time will tell if that's just down to local circumstances or not.

Interestingly enough, the Rainycity blog is followed all around the country, I believe thier source is somebody in Manchester Licensing who is aggrieved the position of Unit manager did not go to her.

The new bigboy on the block, the RMT union, used Rainycitiy's story on Euro five emmissions, which Rainycity themselves credit as being Andy Cables post on Taxi driver online.

Rainycity start with the paragraph ... "bold and in red" to describe the finishing date of this consultation. RMT use this phrase but do not publish the text bold and in red, proving they copy Rainycity, who in turn credit Andy Cable TDO.

It is something when a large London based Union have to rely on blogs to get information about TfL proposals.

Who know? Maybe a clearer picture will arise when we see the report, and the gov's response to said report.

Since when does the word national, as in National Cab Act, exclude London?

Londons always had it's own legislation when it comes to Taxis, I see no reason why we won't keep it, after all there's no where else in the world with the high standards of taxis / drivers like we have.

There's no cap on drivers, just standards are high and many are too thick / lazy to complete The Knowledge.

Besides, they wouldn't want London coming to a standstill with weeks of protests.

And here's little old me thinking this was about passenger safety issues?

I did say from the start can of worms.

Captain, you are right, you warned Unite from day one. This also vindicates Rainycityripoff and shows they do have a source well located.
If you read Naleo's website and the remarks posted by Bryan Rowland you will see why more copies of his magazine are pulped rather than read.

Irrespective what this anticipated report does or does not say, now is the time for the trade to start, really start, to bang-on about enforcement.

Unless the enforcement angle is very strong and totally workable, then as I've written before, any new Act will just be loads of sheets of paper with typed word on them!!
