Cabbie lured to false address and stabbed
14 July 2011
A TAXI driver was lured to a false pick up where he was stabbed in the leg and robbed.
The cabbie was called to the dummy address in Reservoir Road this morning (Thursday) just before 2am.
As soon as he arrived a masked man opened the driver's door and immediately stabbed him in the leg before demanding cash.
After stealing a small amount of money and the car keys the robber ran off to the bottom of Reservoir Road, at which point the driver sounded his horn to try and raise the alarm.
His attacker then headed off along Coniston Close. A police helicopter and a dog team searched the area and found the car keys, but failed to find the robber.
The driver suffered a 1.5cm puncture wound to his leg and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Coventry.
Police believe the bogus call was made from a phone box on Boughton Road.
