Private Hire driver accused of Byfleet rape
AN 18-YEAR-OLD girl was left with 62 injuries after she was raped by a minicab driver in a vicious and terrifying attack, a court heard.
Masood Ahmed, 26, appeared for trial at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday (July 19) after pleading not guilty to charges of making a threat to kill, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.
Ruby Selva, prosecuting, told jurors the incident happened in the early hours of August 13 in Parvis Road, Byfleet.
Miss Selva told the court the teenage victim had been walking home along the road at around 1.30am when the minicab driver pulled up behind her after dropping off another fare.
“He followed her on foot and then forced her away from the road down a steep verge into a ditched area,” she said.
“He humiliated her and brutally attacked her, threatening her with a knife.”
She told the court how the 18-year-old tried to run for help when Ahmed took her mobile phone and threw it into the trees.
She said: “Her method was to try to talk him out of attacking her with any personal information. She claims she was trying to pacify him to survive.
“The defendant explained if she made him happy he wouldn’t kill her."
Miss Selva said the victim was then sexually assaulted by Ahmed, of Seaforth Avenue, New Malden.
She added: “He took advantage of a young woman alone at night who was vulnerable through drink.”
Miss Selva said the defendant had given no comment in police interview, but in a series of prepared statements said the young woman had kissed him and pulled her skirt and underwear down.
She said: “The defendant would suggest she had no money and offered sexual favours in lieu of a way home and that she was so desperate for a lift she flagged down a stranger and prostituted herself out to get home.”
“He told her he didn’t want to have sex with her because he realised that wasn’t what he wanted to do.
“He said he didn’t threaten her and denies the allegations of rape.”
