What I can't understand is why the council bothers with any of this sh*te.

It seems like a lot of hard work just to make yourself unpopular while denying individuals the rigth to run their own affairs like every other market sector.

I can understand making serious quality controls to ensure the best public service, but just saying you can't get your own plate because they don't want to give you one is just pandering to the cartel.

And all they're achieving is showing just how poor local government is. Playing to the megalomaniacs in the council and interfering in markets they clearly don't understand.

A lack of will from the vast majority of drivers and owners working within the taxi trade and as a consequence no will on behalf of the politicians to change anything.

I think it was Kenny MacAskill MSP, that said, if it's not broken you don't fix it. Restriction doesn't appear to be politically broken at this moment in time.

That's not to say it isn't the biggest pile of shi*e ever thought up, but it's not broken, at least not for the majority.
