You're allowing your personal feelings towards Jim to cloud your judgement. That makes you weak in my book, CC. [-X

I don't think I am.....but then again I think I've actually read it and others haven't.

As for the personal feelings....I think they are abundantly clear in jaspars post.

I've put up with all of this and more. And gone beyond the call of duty to help this owner

Hows that song go....."Nobody knows".....jeez you know all about suffering.

Aye, you're all heart, and short memory.

I take it your near death experience didn't bring any sense of humility to you?

The good Lord sends you a warning and you're too stupid to heed even Him.

Jim's ability to drive a taxi is not in question. No one is claiming he is reckless, irresponsible or just plain bad at his job. Unfortunately, his crime is that he has an opinion. And this is why no one should be denied unfettered access to the tools of their trade. Restriction appears to promote a little fantasy world for “owners” - inequality, discrimination and the exploitation of drivers - and total control over the trade for the council.

Perhaps it should be a stipulated that, as a part of your licensing conditions. You are not allowed to have an opinion unless it supports vested interests, the Cab Inspector and the council?

I don't think any owner would be quite as quick to deny someone employment, in a de- restricted market, with all things being equal. :-|

I find it hard to believe that an owner would get rid of someone who is paying them £250 a week (N/S rental on a street cab !) for no reason at all. As for "Universal rejoicing",because this has happened.....Nah, it's only folk like you Jim that gloat at the misfortunes of others. p.s. I hope your Ma' gets well soon.

Is this just you proving that you can't read?

Or can you read but don't have the wit to understand?

What part of what I wrote did you not understand?

Perhaps I should add that the bad blood between us started when his dad sold his share to him. The pressure was on. And the guy just wasn't up for it. I suspect he's not fit and proper to be managing a taxi. I suspect he doesn't start early in rhe morning because he's too [edited by admin] to.

Perhaps this goes back to my raising the issue of filling up after shifts. Now this didn't used to be a problem, but with the high price of fuel it can add up to serious amounts of cash.

The taxi runs a 24p to 25p per mile. It gets worse towards the service.

But after its been to the garage, it shifts upwards.

My last three days off it rose to 28p per mile, the next night it was back to normal. 4p over 100 miles is four quid, nearly a grand a year.

How is it that you can be out of the car for 3 nights and always return to a price hike. And I have the data to show it. Same with a garage trip?

And how is it that you can't use a satnav because the power point doesn't work? Or an intercom that is US. Or a rear passenger door that was inop for months, it couldn't be locked. Or a steering box that leaked constantly? Or heater guage that's never worked? Or windows that constantly fail?

I've put up with all of this and more. And gone beyond the call of duty to help this owner. The car going on fire just one story.

A spare tyre that was also US, the AA had to be called. A jack that wasn't up to the job. Dirty wheelchair ramps. And a car that rattles so much on the cobbles it positively sings.

Is any of this what customers are payng for? And how has most of this got through the test yet again?

Drivers depend on the cab office to deliver a vehicle that, even for a short time, is OK to drive.

This cab office, under this cab inspector is not delivering even that.

I suspect that the whole system is not fit and proper. It's not being managed in anyway shape or form.

Edinburgh's taxi trade is substantially a shambles.

And that's why PH seems so attractive. The lower tariff is just the clincher.

BTW the universal gloating was a joke. Even Toots hasn't gloated, instead offering real practical advice. I relish this.

Perhaps because we've all been there, and can go there again.

And drivers will until some common decency from the council will allow drivers to work on a vehiucle they own, and are proud of and would want to look after. That's what delivers quality to the customer.

But our council has no decency. There's not a single councillor who would accept what we have to endure. Whch says it all about them.

I'm shocked that you a man who shouts about Quality control and standards as a way to regulate would drive the banger of the Taxi you describe

This calls in to question your'e INTEGRITY!!! And brings up the point!!! Are you a fit and proper person to run a Taxi licence :?:

If you where willing to aid your'e owners sub standards what would you be willing to hide from the regulators :?:

We have to Doubt Jim

The evidence s clear

Now ask yourself the question Jim  Should i have bought in years ago :?: Deep down the answer is YES isn't it Jim

How many years have you wasted :?:

Good luck driving for the comet known as ALIT

Dougie, you truly are a simpleton.

But then you know the streets of Dunfermline, or Galashiels, or even Niddrie.

It's amazing that you are so stupid and infantile.

Will you ever grow up?

And the people who benefit from the restriction supported by cretins like you are ... guess what ... private hire, most of whom couldn't do the job without satnav..

The very people whom you have allowed, because of your greed and stupidity, to take your work away from you.

You beggar belief numbskull.

Next time you see me on the street, please stop me so that I can poke you in the eye to see whether there's any brain in that thick head of yours.

You must mean the same-old crap of your little taxi driving businessman fantasy world. Yes, I would have to agree with you on that score Dougie.

I think your chum Fairplay, is now suffering from an identity crisis. I am sure I detected an awakening in there somewhere.

So, was it the Global Economic crisis that caused private hie to quadruple, in my time in the taxis?

Do the arithmetic thicko and wonder just who it is who is now dictating tariffs?

The public are walking away from your status quo.

And get this, the state of the trade isn't down to me, or the Skull, or Ali T or anyone else who sees the individual's right to his own tools of his trade, it's entirely down to your model and the control freaks who run it.

You're destroying us all with your greed and stupidity.

It's not going to last.
