Two things.

One, I think the Law Commission would really welcome as many views from as many people in the trade.

Two, I think the Law Commission have already decided what's what. Two-tier, no restrictions on taxi numbers, and a national PH licensing scheme.

If number two is right.....number one is a waste of time.

I wouldnt have gone, I wouldnt have my good name besmirched by languishing around with such sh*t.

I would have told them after reading the initial briefing paper that I was under the impression the entire thing was a done deal.

I would have asked why NALEO sent 2 reps......why the IOL sent 2 reps......why the DFT sent 3.......and why the cab trade reps were limited to strictly 1 person.

They can take a lot away from this meeting.....anyone with half a brain will remember what happened last time the cab trade came away from a meeting with a similar body thinking they'd won......and the trade got sh*fted.

I'm sorry to p*ss on peoples chips here, but the meeting looks like it was an entire waste of time;

I alluded to that on the other Law Commission advisory group minutes - 22 November 2011 thread. (I wish Alex would work out how to merge threads :roll: )

However if the side that supports Mr Doom thinks everything is sorted and no need to worry, then good luck to them.

And me......I have my own mind....and if people think those reps around the table had the cab trade at heart, they better reconsider.

People seem to quickly forget the comments made 6 months ago in front of the select committee.

Lets give one example of the turnaround by a liverpool trade rep;

Quote:
the pre-booked market was positive for customer choice

Thats right.......provided its not DELTA huh?

Another way.......you mean apart from ranks, street hails and phones? Which other way is this.....the power of the sixth sense?

Don't worry Captain!!!

The new legislation will soon be f*kced when, 'Beam me up Scotty' becomes a reality and no longer a myth!!

Personally I am going to concentrate on making a living..... there will be a time when things may need to be done... if and when that happens.... I just might wake up...

I see that there was more people Christmas shopping on a very quiet day than there were standing on picket lines...

You seem to forget the briefing paper was heavily influenced.

The taxi and PH won nothing on 22nd November, absolutely nothing, we are not even at the consultation stage yet.

The Law Commission will simply go away and work out agruments as to why these arguments were put......shock horror....major fleet owners want absolute control over vehicle rents?

The Button 3 tier system caters for the equality act, PH and novelty vehicles.....and whilst I take the p*ss out of him, he does have a point, and it is in actual fact no less workable than the current arrangements.

The cab trade better come up with something better.....and quick......the clock is ticking.

I want Hackney's to be able to carry nine passengers not eight.
