If they are genuinley confined to a wheelchair they almost certainly get mobility allowance and almost certainly have a mobility car which quite often they drive and get in/out themselves, so why are they needing pushing up a ramp into a taxi?....

Many more have a mobility car that their ar*e is rarely ever in.

I was an ambulance service for several years and it was common place to take patients for appointments who had mobility cars at home, and having disabled badges they got free parking, they didnt see the need to waste thier fuel, you can see them in Tescos car park running across with big heavy bags.....to the disabled parking nearest the shops

Very few wheelchair/passenger combinations would exceed that weight.
I think the tail lift on my vehicle has a SWL of 330 KG.

Possibly 30KG, He has put down his weight
Alegidly all the new service busses that can pick up WC passengers up from bus stops have a sticker inside the or by the door stating 45KG max, or around that figure

'Allegedly' is presumably the operative word - 45kg is only around 7 stone?

You have to include the weight of the driver who is pushing, as his weight will also be on the ramp.

The risk isn't primarily with the ramp itself, it's the force required to push the wheelchair up the incline.

300kg isnt much for 2 adults and a chair, as for the incline, a 125kg person up a 30degree ramp, it must be double the effort required on the flat, then theres the risk of slipping in wet/icy weather

wheelchairs should only go in vehicles on a tailift

is there any requirement for inspections of ramps? i can only imagine the claims if one bent or broke while a wheelchair was being loaded!, which insurance would cover you, car or public liability, you DO have PL dont you?.....
