In relation to another topic on this site I've come up with this fantastic business opportunity you can all take part in. It's completely tongue in cheek and not to be taken too seriously but I'm sure you will notice similarities to other business ideas and draw your own conclusions 8)

What I want to do is open a restaurant and need staff to work there, I won't be the employer or own the restaurant - you will be self-employed and it will be your business. However if you want to work at the restaurant you will need to pay me £200 per week.

In order to run the restaurant you will need various supplies (ingredients, menus, furniture etc.) and you will need to pay for all this yourself as well as all the utility bills, maintenance, various licences and insurance costs.

Before you can work there you will also need to undergo training in hygiene and health and safety which are a council requirement, and unless you have these qualifications I'm afraid I can't take you on. These will again be at your expense as will the compulsory twice a year council hygiene inspections.

Even though I'm not your boss or employer I will tell you when you can work and also what clothing you must wear as well as setting the prices for the food including various discounts, the colour scheme of the restaurant and what the menu is. If you don't comply with my rules then I will fine you and close the restaurant until you do.

Now you may ask why if your paying all the running costs and doing all the work why should you pay me £200 a week, well it's quite simple. For the £200 I will place adverts saying 'need a restaurant phone this number' (my phone number) and when potential customers call I will tell them to go to your restaurant. You then get to keep whatever those customers spend at your restaurant.

Wow this sounds too good to be true, there must be a catch somewhere I hear you say. Well I must point out that I cannot guarantee how many customers I will refer to you, some weeks may be really busy and others quite slow. I also intend to open more than one restaurant and once I've passed a customer to you I won't send another until I've given all the other restaurants one as well.

So come on, for just £200 I'm giving you the opportunity to run your own business, even though I won't be your employer I will be in charge and overall control but other than that you will be your own boss. So who's in ? :D

Catering staff aren't that daft. :)

Try it on some taxi drivers instead. They'll be queuing up round the corner #-o

Reggie: ~ I was about to say that that sounds like the Hairdresser's 'Chair Rental' scheme.

You could make it better by having lots of different types of food available, e.g Crunchy Chicken, Beefy Burgers, Betta Buttys and keep it all under one roof but it would be several different businesses so they compete against each other and the public haven't really got to make much effort other than decide what they fancy that day, but, I think that's already been snapped up tho
