It seems that the big private hire companies have got their point across..... the taxi trade loses out and so do the existing private hire drivers....... =D>

But who was representing the trade?

The Spivs, the Cranks and the new breed of trainers.

Oh and one bloke that works a Saturday night.

Captain....... it would seem that the Hackney Trade and every small private hire company and driver are well and truly about to be shifted..... reminds me a little of the bus companies..... the big fish eat the little fish.....

When people swim with sharks, they should expect to get eaten

Get rid of any standards that might be there for ph except 'training', I wonder who's bright idea that was  I don't care what anybody says there is a need for ph to know where they are going, this idea that ph are pre booked so they have time to look up where they are going is a load bollox imo.

In Ayr, we are represented by a Guy that never goes out after 9pm and refused me Membership of the local (SA)TOA because I didn't address him by his correct Title.

It's quite possible that my accent was part of this decision making process.

Would I be correct in assuming the Law Commission have no remit for Scotland?

you are correct....although I would suspect the Scots law makers are looking on?

I suspect you are correct, although it probably isn't high on the parliamentary agenda here....
.........I haven't read this fully yet, but on the face of it, it looks like Addy Lee and co are getting what they paid for...

when you read this.... if you think of it logically.... there . is a extremely good argument to do away with licensing altogether....

I'd like to hear that argument. Any chance you care to expand?

You to do you..... well let's see.... if you make it so that the operator purchases a licence from the Government , which places the responsibility on them of checking that a driver is suitable by acquiring his C R B check advance.. and that the only vehicles he can operate have to reach a certain standard....... than why do you need councils to license them.... complaints never reach the council anyway....

Does that mean only he can own the vehicles or owner drivers are still able to work the operators system?

. It would mean that the responsibility of making sure everything is correct regarding their own vehicles and drivers vehicles and drivers would lie with the company.

Who would make sure the company did as it was supposed to?

Who would make sure the company did as it was supposed to?

The little man from trading standards who goes around checking the air pressure gauges on petrol stations...
