Bit of a long story but an interesting one
Last october my EGR failed on my 2008 Peugeot E7. this was replaced and off I went. All was going well until friday 11th may 2012 approx 6 months since replacement.
The replacement EGR valve failed and I lost all power. I called the AA who arrived and diagnosed the EGR had failed, then went on to blank it off so I could get going again. He advised that it would work indefinitely but would leave the Engine management light on - which it did. During the 10 days since the EGR valve was blanked off my cab ran perfectly and I only decided to have the EGR replaced as it was under warranty.
I contacted the garage which fitted the last EGR in october and they said it would be covered by warranty and to book it in and it would be replaced free under warranty.
At the same time I have been having Clutch and Flywheel problems so decided to have that done at the same time. I booked it in for both on wednesday 16th may and dropped it off to have all the work done.
The garage contacted the Main Dealer " Windsors of Wallasey" who supplied the failed EGR valve to arrange a replacement who said that as it was a warranty replacement that they themselves would have to do the work. So the garage fitted the Clutch etc and then delivered my vehicle to have the EGR fitted by the main dealer " Windsors of Wallasey".
I went to collect my vehicle from the main dealer (Windsors of Wallasey) on thursday after completion of this work. When I arrived to collect my vehicle at 5.20pm on thursday I was informed that it was showing a turbo fault.
On driving home I discovered that I actually had no turbo at all and no power. However by this time it was too late to do anything and I went home.
The following morning I went back to the Garage who fitted my clutch and got them to look at my vehicle. They discovered that the EGR had been fitted incorrectly by (WINDSORS OF WALLASEY) and the gasket was hanging out with one of the bolt holes completely missed. After some discussion it was felt that this could be the reason for lack of power and the decision was made to refit the valve correctly. This however has not solved the problem and my turbo is still not working.
The main dealer have said that the turbo was probably faulty before but due to the EGR being blanked off it would not have shown up regardless of the fact that it was fitted badly and gave the excuse that it is difficult to get to. The garage that fitted my clutch dispute this and maintain that the incorrect fitting of the EGR valve and resetting of the ECU is more likely the cause.
As it stands at the moment my cab is still at the garage with no working turbo. I plan on returning to " Windsors of Wallasey" and suggesting that as the turbo was working faultlessly on delivery to them (as confirmed by the mechanic that delivered it) that they should rectify it.
