Which EU law specifically are you referring to?

Normally such laws have exemptions based on things like health and public interest generally, and I'd imagine accessibility would to that extent be OK. I would have thought that if anyone the LC would have given the issue a little thought, but I suppose stranger things have happened.

And as I recall it the LC's proposal is about incentives, thus it would be up to each licensee which option they chose.

It's not like the current position where licensees are very often forced to run WAVs while others enjoy less onerous conditions, which is clearly discriminatory from where I'm standing, although for whatever reasons officialdom rarely seems to take on board.

Not sure if anyone mentioned a specific number, and clearly £20 isn't much of an incentive, but didn't Ireland offer free WAV licences while saloons were paying more than a grand per annum?

Anyway, it could be part of a package of incentives. For a start, I'd have a different age rule for WAVs as compared to saloons, as indeed many locations have at present.

On the other hand, I'm not too keen on mixed fleets because of the conflict and confusion it can cause on the ranks.

Incidentally, as regards incentives, aren't there a few LAs without even a fare incentive to run bigger vehicles, but where some still do operate larger cabs, as I understand it because they hope to get more of the longer, more lucrative runs?

The EU has extensive anti competitive laws.TBH I have neither time or inclination to wade through a ton of EU directives and legal.

I guess it does depend on how they propose it. If the incentive was available to all and all License holders have a "Choice" about which vehicle they purchase then this wouldn't be deemed anti competitive. However if the only vehicle available to new plates (while existing held salons) were to be WAV and the salons subsidized them with dearer license fees, I would suggest this would be on dodgy ground.

So in summary, your correct if all License holder are provided with a choice as to which vehicle type they want to purchase.

Mixed fleets dont work, the LC never had the b*llocks to actually look at it, they were far to busy pandering to PH Op's

Indeed, but since I haven't got to that bit yet I'm not sure what the LC's view on this is, or whether they even proffer a view on discriminatory conditions of this kind, as opposed to incentives.

Which reminds me, since I still haven't got to the second section perhaps I should spend more time reading the document instead of pontificating on here and dipping into it piecemeal. :D

Ah, I see. When taxeman refers to his fellow drivers as 'mindless simpletons' he really means 'well-adjusted, intelligent friends and colleagues'.

So what's your excuse?

Fellow driver is not a word I would use... kind, generous and gentle.

When translated means, Parasitic, gravy train riding, bullies.
