They represent their membership and that is not a definition of 'vested interest'.

And if you have a congregation [they are holy in their own minds ] of these organisations at a given meeting, then you might well get different opinions that can be persuasive to some at meetings and on the whole a balanced view when taking all those views into consideration.

Apart from the LTDA, in restricted areas these organisations stand primarily for one thing, and their representation in unrestricted areas is minimal as far as I'm aware.

I mean, if I was a jockey in Liverpool I wouldn't be joining Unite, because the represent a vested interest. Simples. :D

So because any consumer organisation has to be set up from scratch then to that extent you're implying that it lacks legitimacy?

They lack legitimacy because they have not demonstrated to this day that they have a membership, let alone a membership that merits the use of the word 'National' in their title.

And most trade organisations, either local or national, tend to be quite limited as regards their representation.

The National Taxi Association, for example.

You're right, that is what should be happening now.

The NTA can only represent their members, just like any other members' organisation.

They are quite widespread throughout the land.

The thing I find quite frustrating is, that to my knowledge, there is no such thing as a national PH Drivers association and boy do they need one the way they are being sh*ted on!!

So it has nothing to do with cost? I have all the time in the world but no free fuel so it's out the question, perhaps that is more like the reason it isn't done

Mind you, with the numbers viewing the TDO Forum of late, I think the word could be spreading on the ranks and in the PH offices.

I'm not a member of the NTTG but by all accounts nobody is :? If I had the fuel or the relay of taxi/ph drivers I'd do it, but, I don't. It'd only be like glorified leaflet dropping
