One could ask why should the tax payer pay for it?

Because that's the law.

Didn't the Guildford Auditor, and the Minister at the Trans Con meeting, say that enforcement costs are not able to be charged to the trade.

The other question is why are the trade charged for SUD surveys? If the council has a policy which dictates a SUD survey every three years, then they alone should fund them. Not the trade.

Sussex is very misleading as per usual ,councils cannot charge more than a certain amount for Pub and club licences, so the departments have to work within the Revenue received .....

Oh no.

I doubt there is a council in the country that meets it's pub enforcement costs out of fees money, most of it will be met from the general fund.

now there's me thinking that they leave enforcement to Trade and Standards

From my own experience in the past many of the trade across this country will not even know that the Law Commission are holding a consultation.... they will have no knowledge of the consequences.....OFT... nobody knew....
how were they informed that something was wrong..... it was the creation of the NTTG money was raised locally so that representatives could be sent out from town to City explaining what was going on... and new members joined.... and paid a small fee £20
this gave the trade something that it did not have..... unity... one trade working towards one goal....

Unfortunately this only works when you have leaders and not hangers-on.... not the broken record that keeps repeating the same line over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

These people think that they will wait till after the Law Commission have made their response... they are not capable of understanding that the responses need to be made now, and that they should be making sure that Associations across the north-west know what is going on now, they have the money, they just don't have the brains to use it.

now this might be a little confusing... but bear with me... it will be as clear as mud in the end.
firstly, recently I had a telephone conversation with Trevor Bowler the chair... he told me that the NTTG had no members and that were not holding any meetings.. now the original constitution states that if the association becomes non-existent..ie has no members then all monies left that are paid into the said Association will be donated to charity... now I said Sefton are still a member, Oh no says he... I have a list of the members, and have contacted them.. and they are all dead.... so it would seem that I no longer exist... nor does Charlie 007.. or even Paul Brent chair of the National Taxi Association.... now strangely enough last night there was a meeting of this ghostly association.... where new members were appointed to the board.....

Unprisingly a new constitution was written... as the old one had been lost... that was the one that said that monies collected where only to fight deregulation.. which means that they have no right to lend members of the committee thousands of pounds to be used to at local level.... convenient that it was lost... and I am sure the new constitution will be just as convenient.... now I wonder how much would have been left in the NTTG if I hadn't been making such a commotion.... the Beauty with lending oneself money is that you can make the best arrangements for yourself as to when and if you pay it back.... I believe that the people who burrowed the money are now being asked to pay it back...

but sadly there is still no news as to when this Association will hold a AGM for its members. even though in the original constitution this was to take place every 12 months
I wonder what it says in the new constitution.....

I suspect that the new constitution will say that there will be an AGM tomorrow or as the Spanish say 'Mañana'!!

Oh dear blondie, you don't understand the word 'Mañana' as in the Spanish urban, colloqual, slang context.

Yes I do but I wasn't replying to that comment  If I was replying to that comment I would have suggested it be called MGM but then I may have confused some people

Well you've succeeded. WTF is a MGM, apart from being a BFO hotel in Las Vegas that used to stage world-title boxing.

For the people out there that are interested, the NTTG have agreed to hold an AGM in July , possibly in Liverpool.. members' meeting first .... and then a open meeting to follow. somebody must have been putting pressure on them...
