As in sussexs opinion which i suppose is gospel ? Now where i work if the council are happy with that, which strange to you they are,why not leave it up to them ? They were quite vocal in asking where they would like these "extra" taxis to rank in a allready heavily congested town centre? Cant say they got a credible answer.Since weve got our new promenade (nice new single lane !)the traffic is horrendous, and at lease 60 to 70 % of taxis journeys from the centre have to use it.So the last thing they want is more congestion.Blackpool council who own their own bus network have allready admitted they cant run to a timetable.

Of the 29 SUD surveys that Halcrow have undertaken in the last three years, they have only found SUD in one.

Now that's going through the motions care of the gospel of St Halcrow.

How can you say that unless you have personally undertaken the surveys yourself, has it ever occurred to you that it may be that there is no unmet demand to speak of?

It must be great in sussex land , id quite happily let anyone do a survey here in the peak of the season at peak hours and see if they cant get a cab ! Is it so difficult for you to comprehend that maybe there is no unmet demand

Based on what?

Your demand, their demand?

On another point why would a council want to keep their restricted taxi quotas ?

You really don't get it do you Mark, Brighton might well be a hub of activity with near London cab prices but try playing the game on half fares in 90% of the quiet country and you will change your mind, whats good for Brighton ain't good for Brixham is it.

Don't waste your fingers Toots, he will simply return tomorrow with another load of tosh, him and Skull should get a room somewhere near Birmingham and spend all night telling each other about the nasty people who invest in the business they wish to pursue and how it isn't fair they can't have it all their own way for free, and the proof is if Skull could get a plate free I doubt he would for two reasons, one the bank won't lend and two he knows it would be a bad investment if there was no control,

The thing that really gets me is how people can't just look down a main road and see the amount of empty curry and kebab houses there are, effectively they should fail and close but they don't and the reason is the staff are paid a pittance so the owner can have minimal exposure and get by on two busy nights, and that is how the cab game will be once Sussex gets his way, he can't see it but right now he has a profession hollow point in his hand and it's about ready to load up and kill him, for what I guess is a reasonably educated man he can't seem to do basic maths nor have any understanding of the sort of mentality that is waiting at the door ready to come in and swamp it out.

Don't worry Mr Doom, Brighton will 'benefit' from the changes to the law that the Law Commission's final proposals will bring in.

Then we can all tell him, 'Told you so!'.

Mr Sussex, at the moment you Brighton cabbies and scabbies have a small 'pot of gold'.

Every proprietor and driver in your area and beyond knows that and every latent driver who might want to drive a HC or PH in your LA area also knows that and will be 'busting a gut' to get a licence in your area, but not at the current high vehicle and driver standards.

What makes you think that after deregulation and the deregulation of vehicle age limits and standards throughout the country, there won't be a complete flooding of your LA area with drivers, vehicles and new operator, most of which will be prepared to work, 14, 16, 18 hours a day and at half the mileage charges you currently run at?

Because it's always easier to do nothing.

The Law Comm give a good explanation of 'regulatory capture'.

And that is never assessed properly, apart from a few rank observations.

Well actually it's the opinion of about 9 users here, thing is they all share the same two hands to type their self interest motives drivel here, funny thing is it's a dangerous person who multi personalities in a forum, just as bad as 50 year old men pretending to be 13 year old boys to snag the kids into meeting them, it gets even worse when you consider that person also sits in a courtroom helping decide whose guilty and who isn't, and that is what I believe is happening here,

See, everyone has some glass in their house
