For the Law Commission yes..... for the cab trade no... it seems Trevor Bowlers( chair of the NTTG) strategy will be to get the Law Commission to repeal the 1976 Act..... private hire...

I wonder what would happen if a councillor didnt justify any claims or expenses and when asked produced documents from 2005?

I'm sorry, I like many people within the NTTG, but if today was an example of how we are going to carry on in the cab trade, we wont be carrying on at all, because were dead in the water.

The entire thing was a mess from start to finish, and those responsible knew what was going to be asked, yet they blustered and carried on regardless, the entire meeting was an example of the cab trade at its entire worst.

For its many faults (me mainly I guess) the NTA is far more professional in its approach, its regrettably slow and methodical, but this is for a reason, and that was shown today, as for the input of the unions......wow! we are well and truly f*cked.

If people want to be nice to each other thats fine, I can accept that type of mentality, but for a stakeholder organisation representing its members not to respond to the select committee a couple of years ago is quite unbelievable.

I await their response to the law commission with interest.......22 days now?
