Hi there everyone I was at the dealers today sorting everything out with my new superb and taking delivery of it on the 21st of this month, I have booked it in for its taxi test on the 22nd and the meter radio data head fitted on the day I get it, I was on the phone to sherif meters and they said that the superb does not have a "pulse wire" so one will need to be installed for the meter to work anyone know or have a superb mine is a 1.6tdi S specification

The Octavia is the same, no pulse behind the radio, they just remove the dash binnacle and splice into the speedo wire

A bit technical here, but my Mondeo doesn't have one either and they had to fit a little black box looking thing. Cost me another £100 from memory.

I think he means it would be the meter installer's problem, unless you're fitting it yourself.

It is my problem that my brand new £21,000 car is going to get its binnacle removed in order to fit a pulse wire

cos you aint taking on the job of fitting it, your supplier will know only too well whats needed and will have quoted you the whole job, supply all parts, fit, calibrate and test, you just have to turn up

the installation company will stick it on the ramps, install the sender, either in the gearbox, or off the ECU speedo drive, worry more about the dashboard hole they hack out to fit the meter....lol

I've been trying to get hold of him for the past week but he got a new phone so hadent got his new number so just drove over too his house and managed to get him said it needs a pulse wire and possibly a CANBUS depending on the way they fit it he went over to digitax with his 12 plate superb S spec 1.6 diesel in march and he got the fright of his life when he seen it lying it bits but when he got it back was top notch and looked and worked fine so think I'll be going over there in Clydebank

Fitting is what they do, its no difference to fitting a top notch stereo system, if they botched it they wouldnt be in the job

BTW, most cars now have CANBUS, nothing to be afraid of, its simply the vehicles control and diagnostic system, you may need an adapter, but as i say, its all bread and butter for installers
