Hi I am currently in the process of completing my general street knowledge test for Knowsley council, problem is so many of my friends have told me that because of my age (23) it will b to dear for a private hire firm to take me on there insurance cause I am under 25. Can anybody tell me roughly how much my insurance would cost me? I have been told by my upcoming work boss that normally it is 240 for car and radio for people over the age of 25, how much do you think my car and radio would be weekly, all the help would be most appreciated as if its to dear I will have to look carry on with my groundwork trade but still complete my taxi licence for the future

Kindest regards
Stoyley!

It will cost you a fortune.

I suggest you ring a few insurance companies to get quote, saying that you are a newly licensed driver etc.

Does your firm not operate a fleet insurance which might help reduce your premiums?

Down here drivers with loads of points/sh** drivers/young driver go on that policy for about £30 a week. Saving them a lot of money.

Mine's about £1200 a year, and I'm bloody old/been driving years/no accidents/NVQ/PSV licence too... ring around, it'll be dear for you though being under 25.

Try South Essex Insurance Brokers 01708 850000 they have a specialist p/h department. Good luck.

It's a cut throat market so play the brokers off one another I did that this year and went from a renewal of £1850 to £1400 with my current insurer.

That's about how much I paid when I was 24. Should drop significantly after you accumulate two years no-claims bonus, there isn't much of a difference (about a hundred pounds or so - considering the amount paid in the first place) after the first year.
