Any taxi can drive through London without paying,

Not the case.

Oh yes it is Sussex the signs do not stipulate what type of taxi just taxis

The TFL website stipulates that taxis and private hire vehicles licensed in London are exempt. It doesn't exempt vehicles licensed elsewhere.

Yes

Not neccesarily. In Nottingham you can only use the bus lanes if you have a WAV.

Yes

Take no notice of him, unless he is going to pay your fines. ](*,)

If the Traffic Order implementing the bus lane says 'taxi' then all taxis licensed under the 1847 act are allowed access.

If the Traffic Order implementing the bus lanes says '(local area) taxi' then only local taxis licensed under the 1847 act are allowed access.

Never seen a local taxi only sign, as councils must abide by NRTR and the only sign at the moment is taxis

Sometimes your stupidity amazes me. If the council get a traffic order and get the signs agreed by the ministry of transport, then they can restrict access to local taxis or wheelchair taxis. There was a discussion on this recently on here and the link to the legal bit for Nottingham was put on there.

The 1847 act does not license taxis. It licenses Hackney Carriages
