For a 24/7 taxi rental down here the rates are about £500 a week. These motors are driven by people working 100 hours a week.

A week? FFs!

That ain't far off my monthly repayment for my Vito.

up here its about £100 a week for the taxi plus another £70 for radio money so £170 which i think is still pushing, that is off the firm and you have the choice of general or private but most of them use the generals and they are out 24/7 all 1.9tdi 59 plate octavia's and all have been beaten to hell, there are about 6 of them owned by the firm and another 3 privates but nobody ever drives them, but the generals are all hard working, and one of the drivers is unbelievable he sleeps in the thing and lets anyone no matter what state they are in into the cab, they had to take it to the body shop in December cause he was rushing about as usual and reversed the thing straight into a wall and wrecked the back of it, and for some reason he also takes the taxi sign off it if he is leaving it anywhere encase anyone steals it? but in saying that in 2006 i had someone nick the taxi sign off my octavia and got a shock when i went out to it to discover the sign was no longer there

£400 a week for cab + radio is common here.
Varies a bit depending on which company's radio.

what kind of takings are we talking about there? 400 seems insane but if you are easily taking a grand plus its almost fair enough

where we are at 400 a week you would literally make nothing(as in zero) once you added fuel on

i bought my car cash 3 years ago, its dropped in value about £2000 = £18/wk

add repairs+service at £1200 = £11/wk

Insurance down from £1800 to £900 = £36/wk (average)

council plates = £2/wk

call it £70/wk (all inc)

plus ive had no % deductions doing account work by the base renting me a car....

the cars mine now and always was

say this was a private hire add 80-90 per week for a radio takes you to roughly 160,then if you dont have an initial investment to buy a car say its on finance you are now close to 200 a week......thats why i think if you dont wish to or are unable to invest money in a car suitable to plate, leasing around the £200-220 mark is a decent enough deal, its not great but i can see why its that much.

i lease because I cant see the point in investing thousands just to be slightly better off weekly that takes a lot of time to get back

i like having a school run for that reason, nothing to pay them and the following week i normally get some cash back depending on the school run, however i dont like school runs because some of the kids are a complete nightmare and not worth putting up with
