ho, iv'e got 105BHP and 250NM of torque, but in saying that the 170 has 350NM so the difference there is huge, but my last car a 1.9TDI PD 2008/57 plate Octavia classic still had 105bhp but it only had 240NM of torque, where as the 1.6TDI CR has 250 but i think the difference in CR AND PD make that difference and oh boy the CR is so quiet compared to the PD vw engines, and the smoothness is also a bonus

hes only 75% more BHP and torque......lol

i was speaking to another superb taxi driver today, he runs a 1.9 TDI 57 plate (old shape) and must say the legroom in the old one is also brill, he is trading it in for a used 12 plate superb 1.6 TDI CR s spec in silver next week and says he is going to miss his current taxi, told him to take it to digitax for the meter as parts of the dash has to be pulled off, so he is not looking forward to that, but exept from that (and the amount of tic) he is looking forward to the new car and told him they are a dream to drive

I know jack sh*t then. How would my life change by knowing that my cab does 10 mpg or a 100 mpg?

There's a gauge on my dashboard, and when the needle goes down to the "E" (for empty?) I put more diesel in the tank 'till it gets to the "F" (for full?) And then I do some more taxi driving until the next time.

There's a gauge on my dashboard, and when the needle goes down to the "E" (for empty?) I put more diesel in the tank 'till it gets to the "F" (for full?) And then I do some more taxi driving until the next time.


your biggest expense is fuel

Was also speaking to the owner of my old octavia general the other day, it is still looking mint on the inside and outside, last year it was featured in the paper when some of the drivers advertised about the anti-suicide campaign for free on the side of there taxis and it was lead by one of the drivers off our system my old taxi is the octavia up the back

If you don't know how many miles you get to the gallon or litre, how do you know if you are making a profit?

seat covers from halfords, £18.00 and are thick and soft plus they are side airbag compatible

well the seat covers came in handy today when a little boy was sick on the back seat nothing major and the put the cover in the wash and back on clean as new, never go anywhere without them!

First flat tyre yesterday. had some fun trying to get the wheel off as i have never used a locking wheel nut before, but managed to get it off and the spare on, i opted for the full size spare as those space savers are just dangerous! went to the garage this morning and found out it was a loose valve so he tightened it up took the spare off shoved it in the boot and put the original tyre back on and all done for free, later on today i noticed the tyre was yet again nearly flat so i went back and they inspected it carefully and still no problems with the tyre or alloy, so he just resealed it and put the tyre back on again and all for free too, hopefully that should be it now and luckily didn't have to pay as i always go there for my tyres or tracking.

I Changed one of My Superb wheels at the roadside after a puncture, used the Locking wheel nut key, drove off and left the fechin thing by the road side ...went back next day to look for it but it had vanished, had to have all the other locking wheel nuts removed by a special tool at a cost
Now Ive no Locking wheel nuts..just ordinary bolts. So much bloody simpler.

i know, i thought i lost it last night and was searching like mad for it, later found it in my pocket, and managed to tighten the wheel back on, but must say i don't really see the benefit to it ? i am maybe just going to do the same thing as you then and replace the locking wheel nuts with a normal bolt, but for the now i am going to make sure that the locking nut key is kept in the boot well

I was offered a set of 5 spoke ghia alloys with good tyres but i stuck with the steels, cheaper to replace if i kerb one and a set of trims is cheap, alloys can cost £100 each just to refurb, or £300 for a new one

Well there is a body shop down the road from me that can repair any scrapes for £50, but £300 for an alloy? its about £140 see this link
