New Year partygoers can stay safe with Harlow Council's taxi app

NEW Year partygoers are being reminded of an innovative smartphone app developed by Harlow Council to help them get home safely this New Year’s Eve.

Taxi Check Live!, which was designed, developed and launched by council and Firmstep - a leading firm in the provision of online tools for local government - allows users to check if a taxi is licensed or not. The app is free to download and allows people to instantly check if a taxi has been licensed by the council.

Users can type in the registration number of the taxi and using live data a green tick, showing the cab is licensed, or a red cross showing the vehicle isn’t, will appear.

Taxi Check Live! was launched by the council last year. The app can be downloaded to smartphones by visiting www.harlow.gov.uk/tcl.
