Can you come down South!

My competitors run Mercury and never seem to have these problems. If you could work for them.....

Most times I come across an unreliable system you normally have an 'expert' in the control room who 'tinkers' with the system to 'improve' it.

Interesting discussion. I'd like to know what Mercury is, what it's not and what you think it should be.

Personally I'd separate this CROCK into 3 independent but plug-able systems. Each independent performing what it was designed to do best, and only giving the other enough info to enable it to do its job. You know, the way UNIX was designed.
1. Despatch/Booking
2. Delivery (What drivers do)
3. Office Admin (Accounting and shizo)

I think this is what they did. But they foooked it and are not prepared to redo or start over due to perceived high costs. So all they do is sell features and propup the legacy system. You must be very hopeless to go around selling such a thing to honest hardworking folk. =D>

Meh!

The reason it doesn't work is because it's to pretty with to many add on's. Simple is the best way forward.

When I went to mercury for training, that's what they said, theres always someone in every office who 'fiddles' with it and makes it worse.

Because their 24/7 support is never on call so you have to get it up and running.

Why have they changed their name yet again? Have they gone through the hoop again?
