I think "they" refusing to carry dogs should be a bit more realistic. Its part and parcel of the game.

They do try and get round not carrying them.

The fact is, being a Muslim is completely incompatible with driving a taxi under the present licensing conditions.
Your licensing authority should be forcing Muslims to give a written undertaking. They are happy to transport guide dogs for blind people.

If it were me, I would write to your council quoting their religious beliefs and asking for the above undertaking to be implemented.

The mans got his punishment, but oh no SKull, and the one with the Muslim sounding name want to bring in more stuff, explain how being a Muslim is incompatible ?

Do you ever read the relevant information before making an ass of yourself?

Why Muslims are not allowed to keep dogs as pets

Quote:
Kakungulu says Muslims are not allowed to keep dogs because of their saliva and excreta (feaces), which are considered to be unclean and can cause infections.

If a Muslim gets into contact with a dog intentionally or accidentally and its saliva drops onto his body, he is required to cleanse himself seven times – first by scrubbing that part of the body with sand and then with water in a ritual referred to as samak,” Kakungulu says.

He adds: “According to the Koran and Hadith (collection of sayings of the Prophet Muhammad), we can also use dogs to detect drugs or track criminals.

He also stressed that another reason why a Muslim must not keep a dog is because they need to emulate the life of Prophet Muhammad who led a holy life.

Sheikh Twaibu Ali Mpanso, the registrar of the directorate of Sharia, said with regard to vessels or containers, if a dog licks a vessel or drinks from it, the vessel must be washed seven times, one of which should be with sand.

“A dog is the most impure animal, according to our beliefs and teachings,” Mpanso said.

He said it is haram (prohibited) to keep a dog as a pet except for purposes as stipulated in the Islamic teachings because when one does so, he loses one or two qeeraats each day.

Qeeraat refers to the highest reward a Muslim would ever get from Allah; if a person’s reward decreases by one qeeraat that means he is sinning and its consequences are bitter.

Now tell me how being a Muslim, and believing what they do, is compatible with picking up blind people with guide dogs, subject to your licensing conditions?

We don't need to ask the same question time and time again, and because people don't choose to reply doesn't mean they are wrong.

It just means they don't wish to reply.

To me it's quite straight forward, the law says you must take guide dogs unless you have an exemption.

As was stated the mush hasn't got a job, and maybe the council will take their own enforcement action.

If anything articles like this spread the word and remind people exactly what is required of taxi/ph drivers.

Nope, he was on the forum, and I answered his question directly with a question of my own, and he scurried of with his tail between his legs after I posted the relevant information and challenged him to answer.

And then Alex stuck his oar in because he's a wee bit nervous over what's being written about Islamic beliefs being incompatible with driving a taxi. #-o

Correct, I'm out working, something Skull ( the original taxi baron) probably hasn't done in a while, but I'll give him an answer later..

Bollocks!! Oh and the piece I quoted relating to dogs and Muslims, is far from an obscure interpretation of Islamic scripture so you will have to do a lot better than that.

And ask yourself another question: If there isn't a compatibility problem with the Islamic faith and the licensing conditions then why are Muslims avoiding and refusing to pick up guide dogs and blind people?

The fact is, 187ums your problem is with me, and not what I write. You're just a wee boy who struggles to make a valid point, and you despise anyone who can articulate their opinion better than you. Do yourself a favour and stick to hiding in the shadows, you insignificant little twerp? #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_and_animals#Dogs

If anyone wishes to educate themselves on the subject, the above link is a balanced piece of writing but pay attention to how the "majority" of Muslims, consider dogs.

Personally, I think the above is a wee bit disingenuous when you check with other credible sources. :-|

Oh and 187ums, that's called doing some research before forming an opinion and putting it out there to be challenged.

For once you're correct , I do live in the shadow, however like most radical clerics, you're very selective in your choice of religious interpretations.
